    Default simple interface advice

Apologies if this has been covered before!

I am looking for a cheap and simple audio interface for recording acoustic guitar and vocals.
Will be using just a condenser mic with XLR connection.

Have used a toneport UX2 previously but my sons taken it to uni

    Any ideas much appreciated.
Playing whilst drunk is only permissable if all other band members are in a similar state.

Look for a second hand M-Audio Fast Pro. Mic pres are quiet but lack gain, not a problem with a cap' mic tho'. The Tascam 144 is ok, mk2 best but I did not care for the mk1. If you are still running XP look for an Emu 0404usb 2. Was the top reccy for a long time but does not play well I hear with Win 7.

The Pro will work on anything. W98 to W7/64 and no doubt W8 drivers are coming along soon...Oh! And those mac things!

Just a sec' there! I have just found out that all the usb gear has been left with Avid and the rest of M-Audio sold off to another concern.

I have tried to find driver information from the Avid site but it is like pulling teeth. The Pro is STILL the best bet BUT! Get the win 7/64 drivers downloaded FIRST before you look for a unit.

I have been punting M-Audio kit for years and am as mad as bloody hell that they have screwed everyone over in this way. Maybe it is me and the Avid site is a dream to navigate? Don't think so tho!

Saffire 6. They're bullet proof and there's tons of them on ebay.
