Default Guitar refinishing - who can you recommend

I need a bit of refin work done on a couple instruments.

    I need:

    1) a quick cheap refin, presumably poly, on a strat-style body - emphasis on cheap

    2) a very high quality nitrocellulose refin on a set-neck vintage Gibson - emphasis on quality and accuracy (ie I don't want the serial number sanded off, or the edges over-sanded etc)

Can anybody suggest some cheap refinishers for the former, and some real vintage experts for the latter.

Also very interested in finding someone that can do a really good vintage-looking pelham blue...

    Thanks all

I've spoken to both in terms of advice and pricing etc.

I don't think you're going to find someone "cheap" I think the paint/lacquer/filler alone will take you out of that territory... You could refinish them yourself perhaps - that's the cheapest option I know.

that being said I can't wait to see some progress shots of the Gibson.

there is a dude refinishing an old Norlin era Les Paul which looks pretty smart even though it's only in stripping phase, perhaps if you can find the thread you can ask him ?

JXG in Newcastle for the Gibson. He's done some superb vintage Gibson restoration / refin work for me.

Ok thanks guys, keep the suggestions coming... someone in London or south east would be preferable (I should have said that to start) but I will happily post it up north if they are worth it.

Down near Hastings you have an official gibson service center and I think he would be able to help you out
