Default Tele Deluxe - odd middle position behaviour

Just bought a MIM Tele Deluxe fitted with Lollar Regals, which sound great. However, I just wanted to check something out regarding the middle position, which behaves rather oddly. Turning either the volume down to 0 on either pickup turns the overall volume down as well, even if the other pickup is on 10. Is this usual? I used to have a JPN Tele Custom which would blend the two pickups together, and completely turning one pickup down would still leave the sound of the other (unless my memory is playing tricks with me).

Anyone with a Tele Deluxe have an opinion on this? Has the wiring gone astray somewhere or is this normal behaviour in the middle position?

It's the norm with dual PU dual volume control layout. It can be useful or embarrassing live.

Ah cool, thanks for the reply. It's been a while since I've played anything other than a Strat.

You can have it both ways, but the normal way is for it to be silent with both on when one volume is fully down.

Reversing the connections on the volume pots will "fix" this, if it's actually a problem, but it also alters the behaviour of the volume pots relative to each other and causes worse treble loss as you turn them down, so it's debatable whether it's really an improvement.

Personally I find it useful to only have to turn one volume down to silence the guitar, regardless of where the selector is set.
