    Default faith guitars

Any one care to share their opinion of Faith guitars? I'm looking at buying an acoustic and these seem to receive good notices, particularly for the price. I'm going into town on Monday to try some and would also like to hear what you guys think. This will be my first serious foray into the world of acoustics. Cheers.

I love my Saturn electro, fantastic guitars. Before I bought it I tried loads of acoustics around the £400-£800 price mark including a Martin DX which was about £600 at the time. The Faith was £400 including a hard case and sounded far far better than the Martin. I think they look stunning but in a fairly understated way, all solid construction, ebony board, shadow pickup system and sound lovely. You could say I was a fan!

Bertie will be along soon sing their praises as well.

I adore my Faith Venus Hi Gloss. I could wax lyrical for days about every aspect of it.
Even the hard case is a wonderfully made thing.

Big plus 1 for Faith Guitars

I tried guitars by Cort, Tanglewood and Faith in a shop some time ago now. Faith were deffo the best in terms of how they felt to play, what they sounded like (tone quality), and in terms of intonation. Considering the latter, the Corts and Tanglewoods left me fiddling the tuners and always thinking something wasn't quite right. Not so with the Faiths - absolute confidence. If you can afford one, buy it.

Thanks chaps, very encouraging. There is a Faith signature model for sale 2nd hand that I might consider. What should I be checking on a 2nd hand acoustic to make sure I don't buy a pig in a poke? Also this particular guitar has had a pickup, volume control and clear scratch plate added, what impact, if any, should that have on my decision to buy it?

    Thanks again.

I have the little 12th fret parlor as my no 2/travel guitar (mercury ?) bought it used off another forumite (Jalepeno) its the satin finished one, and its a little belter, very resonant, projects wonderfully and a huge sound for a small guitar.

The guitarist in mrs berts band is using it at the moment to do an album with her, and it records quite superbly

If it had slotted headstock, Id say it was near perfect !!

A little extra info, I did a 3 guitar shoot out down in Mansons, Exeter with a Takemine 000 sized and a Tanglewood parlor, OK the RRP for the faith is 30% more, but the Faith stood head, shoulders and a light year above the other two - even head an shoulders above a couple of £800 small bodied Martins (the ones with the ply necks)

I had an early Faith jumbo, one with the thin satin finish. It was very light and the finish provided almost no protection so picked up loads of dents. It's sound was very variable. One day it could sound lovely, the next dull and lifeless. Probably to do with humidity levels and the thin finish.

I have it away to a friend, and he notices exactly the same thing.

Because it was light, it probably meant that the wood used was quite thin and lost and picked up moisture more easily as a result.

So I'd avoid any really early ones, and go for a gloss finish.

strange, dont suffer with that at all, and this is a very "humid" house..... (we have to use a de-humidifier !!) in fact its the lighter constriction /thinner top that is the big plus point, it's what makes it so resonant and loud.

Big heavy construction and thick varnish is not desirable in acoustics..........tone wise anyway

Maybe it was down to the particular wood used for that guitar. When it was on form, it sounded very good.

    Another big plus for Faith.
I searched for a long time for a good acoustic for my daughter, She played lots and lots and so did I. Many that on paper I thought would be good just did not sound right , most were too bright . I ended up striking lucky on Ebay and got her a Saturn Cutaway in natural for £250 in mint condition (the owner bought it new and was a beginner and decided to buy an electric instead.)

We both prefer the feel of the Natural and it sounds good. She has gigged it and I would say not the most careful of owners.
The "hardcase" is heavy and does not stand up to travel well so replaced with a good gigbag.
One of the machines failed but , replacement was cheap and came quickly (couple of days). We have had a few issues with the piezo . After trying several things it seemed the end of the Piezo was touching the top , and this created a feedback resonance.

However , in spite of these faults I would still highly recommend you take a serious look at one. ...
    no worries
