We actually managed to get together this week!!! Well, almost, the singer didn't make it because he sold his house today and totally forgot about the practice! He's phoning me tomorrow to have a word, I'm a bit worried he's gonna leave the band before ever even meeting everyone because it looks like he's moving about 25 miles away. We'll see how it goes.

The practice it's self went great though, everyone played well and got on. The studio we practiced in was tiny but just big enough to get us all in and it was cheap. He even offered us money off again for a regular booking - £15 for 3 hours!! Ideal. The dude that runs the place even had a spare string for me when I broke one (I haven't broken a string in years, typical!), fair play.

There's a private bar to hang out in, a swimming pool in the back garden and even a place to stay if need be! The mad thing is that it's slap bang in the middle of a small village, the sound insulation is very good though so the neighbours are cool. In fact he said there was only one rule - close the studio door!

The songwriting is coming along well too with about five songs already written, no lyrics yet though.

It's very near Bethesda actually, it's in Llanllechid (that has to be the worst name ever to pronounce for non welsh speakers!).

My sat nav's broken so I just wrote down the street names to find the place. One of the streets I was supposed to drive up was called 'Stryd Fawr' which literally translates as large street but it's the welsh equivalent of high street. It was such a small road (I could hardly get my Saxo up it!) I drove past it three times without spotting it, then I again I was looking for was I thought would be the main road in the centre of the village!

I just realized I never thanked everyone for wishing us luck, I really appreciate your support.

I used to see an electronics tutor in Rachub once a week when I was doing my A levels (I actually passed his house yesterday and for some reason had a huge urge to park by his house when I saw the spot I used to park was empty! Wierd). I was bloody terrible at electronics, I got a C grade in the end but my other subjects suffered because I put so much effort into trying to get my head around electronics.

Was the Carnival good? The village I live in not only has a carnival but an annual festival that lasts a whole week!

I'm getting ready to go to practice and I still haven't heard from the singer, I've tried to get hold of him twice this week without any luck. I really hope he turns up today although I'm willing to give him one more go if he doesn't just because I know him from when we were kids.

It's wierd, he seemed so keen, then again I might be worried about nothing and he'll just turn up. I'll know in a couple of hours.

The singer was ill again, he phoned me just before practice. He seems really busy with work and moving house as well so I'm really not sure if this is going to work out, I think he wants to do it but he just doesn't have the time.

We had a bit of a parking nightmare too - small lanes, too many cars already there, playing musical chairs with the cars to get our equipment in since there's only space for one car to stop at a time outside the studio. The cold, wind, rain and steps didn't help either!

Musically things went well, we even jammed out some ideas and started to develop a song together.

I was feeling quite up beat until the drummer asked how old the singer is and then said "He's not an aging rocker is he?". I told him 38 and he was very un impressed. He then asked how old the rest of us are and of course I had to say that I am also 38 (cue unimpressed face again). I don't really understand it, he's almost 30 himself so I would have expected the ageist attitude one can have when they are younger to be gone by then.

I'll be honest, that really pissed me off, I didn't say anything cause frankly he'll just have to get over it. I'd had as bad day as well and really didn't need what I perceived as "You are too old to do this, I am embarassed to to be seen on stage with you". Maybe it just felt worse than it was due to the shitty day.

About five minutes later we were out in the wind and rain again doing the car dance, that didn't help my mood!

Have any of you come across an age problem with your bands? I didn't expected it to be an issue, the other two member (they're 28) don't give a shit and are just having fun playing some tunes.

I've been in bands with a 20 year age gap, it's fine.

The only issue is if you start to get the younger ones expecting the older ones to do everything for them or the older ones not listening to the younger ones.

Thanks monquixote. Come to think of it, when I was in college I was in a band with people between 10 and 20 years older that me and it was a great time, age just wasn't an issue.

The whole thing just took me by surprise really, with any luck it won't come up again.
