I think Paulie hit it on the head.

It probably only costs Boss £5 to make a pedal, but they have R&D, Marketing and a retail markup.

Mooer have none of these things so there is no reason why they can't make things just as well (and probably a shit lot better than some of the less skilled booteek makers) and charge half the price.

In the vast majority of cases with low volume pedals it's just a slightly breathed on TS and most of the money has gone on paying someone to paint a pretty picture on the box.

landgraff i think. Apparently jesus endorses charging $400 for a lightly-modded tubescreamer.

Dunno if he mentions Jesus by name, but he does guarantee absolution if you use his pedals.

Personally I reckon you're more likely to obtain absolution through good tone than through fictional deities.

i don't care if he's religious or not. I just think it's a bit off to sell hilariously overpriced pedals and then whack jesus all over them.

In most cases each and every pedal or any bit of electronic eqipment will have it's own serial number. Otherwise you couldn't tell if it was in warranty. Looking at 2 fake HP chargers I brought off Amazon I can see the fakers have cloned one sticker and put it on all the chargers. Looking at 2 original genuine HP chargers I can see the product type numbers are the same, the dates are the same, everything is the same but the serial numbers are different.
On a brand new OEM box of 32 2.5" harddrives I have here each and every drive has a different serial number.

2 identical Digidesign cards I just brought have diffferent serial numbers

Sometimes it's in the barcode sticker like this

Sometimes it's stuck on a seperate label but generally a real item will have it's own serial number and a faked item will have the same cloned sticker stuck on every one

So what you're saying is that the faked items may have the same serial number.

The barcode and serial number are 2 entirely different pieces of information.

Whether they're printed on the same label or not is purely incidental.

Barcodes in supermarkets are UPCs which are the same for all products of that type.

Not all barcodes are UPCs so you can use them for whatever you like including serial numbers if you choose.

Yes normally a box of faked item will all have the same labels and serial numbers as the people who made the items have no interest in tracking dates of sales or warranty period etc. They just scan one real sticker in and put copies of it on every single one.

On many items the serial number can be in the barcode, or printed on the same sticker. Even put on top. In which ever case the serial number should be different. This is something fakers don't bother with in my experience.
