Yeh, that natural/maple was special. Great large 'V' in the grain coming back from the bridge. A real beauty
I have two large pics of RB playing strat circa 1974 this live up in my l'il musicroom
You can watch the clip of RB & GH together in Aussie doing Lucille on youtube. I love those big headstock 70s in natural. Seem more around in the USA than here to pick up. Good time for someone to unload one... we will all be fighting over it.

    Cheers
    Baz

    Aha!

Used to have a bootleg from the 84 down under tour where RB did a nice version of Waltzing Matilda!

    Me too!

Was it the night that was Roger Glover's birthday, and they played "Teddy Bears' Picnic"?

(I was at Knebworth in 85 and am clearly visible in the crowd picture on the resultant live CD)

I was there too but suspect I blend in with the other 80,000 lank-haired drowned rats.
It was a long trip from Cumbria where I lived at the time. I remember Gillan coming round the campsite the night before with Tommy "TV on the Radio" Vance. A bit like being a kid and seeing santa!

That's interesting - I didn't camp, I came down the Saturday morning - from Teesside, so a similar journey. Brilliant day though. Apart from Meat Loaf. And possibly the Scorpions. YMMV.

You didn't miss much apart from even more rain and misery.
Thought the Scorpions were OK in a comical, Germanic sort of way. I seem to recall them having lots of what looked like wall bars from the school gym on-stage and them running about a lot. It made me feel a bit warmer.

If anything is up for sale longer than a month its usually because no one wants it or (and usually because) its priced to high for the current market.

so far i am yet to see a RW board come up for grabs so i am thinking new is the only way forward. I will give it till Christmas. What i love about these guitars are the huge thick necks.

Which shop was selling them for under £500?

The majority of the retailers have them at £547 (apart from Thomanns £515-520 according to the day of the week ! ). Just approach the main players for a deal, two of the dealers I tried were prepared to drop just under £500. I feel there is more movment if pushed, especially is xmas sales are poor, and the post xmas blues.
