    Default DJ software and controller

    Hi Guys

Anyone got any recommendations on DJ software and controllers?

I'm thinking either Serrato or Traktor, so any info on which is the better option would be cool. I visited West End DJ and the guy there said Traktor is better, at the moment. But then there's the whole bridge thing as well cos I have ableton.

As for controllers. it's really a multifaceted question I guess. I have a sound card already so I could just get a MIDI only controller, but, I am hoping to get some proper gigs and by proper gigs I'm talking club stuff. So does anyone know if you are DJing clubs do you need to take your own controller along that has audio out?

I used to DJ but it was when you had bags full of vinyl and the club provided all the equipment. By 'eck! When I were a lad etc etc etc
thingy, gadget, widjit. Whatever you call it, in the grand scheme of things its probably still a doobreewotsit.

Think I'm sorted as it goes.

Traktor half price this weekend, and an ipad controller will do the deed for now

why doncha just deejay with ableton then? u can crossfade tracks, drop stuff in which'll auto-beat-sync (doesnt ableton do that? i though ableton was primarily live performance sequencer?) Use a controller and also controllers for filters, etc should be doable innit?

    otherwise i vote traktor

I have tried it at home but takes a lot of setting up. You have to import the tracks, go through them, and make sure they're warped correctly etc.

With some proper DJ software you just bung the tunes in on the fly and the time syncing is supposedly better
