Damn, I cannot find this anywhere on YT. Hard to believe in this day and age. I'll keep searching though, you got me curious now.

I'm not sure this one has been posted or not, but I think it qualifies as a pop song (maybe not the original version) and it sure has one of the greates solos ever by the late Hiram Bullock:

Sometimes you're the windshield; sometimes you're the bug.

I always really liked the solo in Tears for Fears 'Shout'

(also Bowies 'China Girl', Princes 'Purple Rain' & does the solo from the Fun lovin' Criminals ' I can't get with that' count as pop?

Not that bizarre considering the whole song is a total rip-off of other things.

The first one is dreadful, but the second/playout solo is pretty much at the top of my "stupidly cheesy but hilariously brilliant" pop record solos .
I'm pretty sure Mark Knopfler played on that one, IMO not one of Aztec Camera's best moments

No. Roddy Frame. MK produced their earlier album 'Knife'

Daft Punk have two - 'Aerodynamic' and 'Digital Love'.

Turin Brakes have a fab solo in 'Underdog':

+1 to all these, especially "Digital Love" and couple of good tries at it on Youtube -
