Forty years of pick rotation for me ... I've just learned to live with it. Sometimes I dig in so deep and aggressively that I smash the side of my index fingernail too. I lose picks all the time so I keep several tucked into the pickguard and more still on the mike stand with double sided tape! I learned poor picking technique and a super heavy strumming action very young, so it's become part of my style! I hasten to add that I encourage my students to somewhat less gung ho!
