At a guess its the Firmware that differs. Patches are just settings, but the firmware will hold the models that the settings apply to.

As stock suddenly appeared at Andertons on my b'day I've ordered one - should get it tomorrow, fingers crossed it's as good as the reviews say, will report back.
    Red ones are better.

If it's as good as the THR5, it'll be awesome!

    Some tips:

    1) Watch the volume settings - not the master but the one next to gain - its designed to mimic the real deal so gets very squashy if that's too high and a bit thin if too low - spend a moment getting that sweet spot right

    2) Put it on a hard surface, ideally wooden - this beefs up the one even more

    3) Have it closer to ear height, the sound gets better and better

Just some tips. I love mine!

    Cheers
    James

its here.......................... and first impressions are - its smaller than I expected (dont know whY) and it certainly doenst sound small/tinny or boxy considering what it is......about the size of a compact ghetto blaster from the old days - LOL ...

Ive had those gimmicky micro amps before , and really cannot see the comparison - nothing like, so very puzzled by previous comments about that.

To me its not far removed from the 10" VT-30 I had before...............but that maybe down to the less gainy tones and lower volume

One thing that is a slight annoyance is the difference in volume when going from model to model..........some are MUCH louder than others.............. but after 20 mins of buggering about, its GREAT fun and so far Im very pleased

(oh and the control next to the gain, is the master ................. - but there there is another overall output control for blending with the aux/USB in)

Not tried anything other than guitar-lead-THR all the software jiggery-pokery can wait until the week-end

I can confirm that you can't load the X presets in to the C model - I downloaded the X patch library and when you try to you get an error message so as I suspected the firmware is different.

Anyway: mine arrived at work this morning so I nipped home at lunchtime to give it a try. Very pleased with it generally, lots of volume and also lots of volume for any backing/playalong you connect in to the Aux socket.
As Berie said there is a significant change in volume as you switch model (while leaving the other controls the same) but simple to adjust any model to any volume/gain balance you want. I suspect I'll get a few as I like them and save to the preset slots and remove that niggle for most purposes.

The effects sound very good and well matched to the target audience of fat-bloke-bluesers :-)

In terms of 'does it sound boxy' that's already got some disagreement here I'd say this: It's not a 2x12 combo :-) and compared to that yes it sounds like a smaller beast, but no way does it sound like a MS-2 or a micro cube (both perfect good fun for what they are and I've played with both before). In terms of apparent girth it easily sounds as physically present as one of the larger Cubes, perhaps with less overall low end but somehow the impression it gives is of something larger still.

The ONLY note of caution I have (based on 30 mins noodling) is this: when I fired up the patch editor and recalled one of the dirtier patches there was obvious intrusive noise when not playing - I need to try this again with different cables and guitars to make sure it's not something else before I express a view on it - in the meantime any other THR10C (specifically) users able to check it out (I guess that's you Bert for now) ?

How much gain is available in the 10C model? I know it's designed for the cleaner end but could it do Van Halen AC/DC etc.? 1 really like the sound of the 10C but I think I might get frustrated if I couldn't break into an 80's rock jam from time to time. Maybe the regular THR10 might be a better option for me.

A gain monster is certainly isnt, but that has to be a massive plus

seriously, its a small unit, very nice and looks perfectly in place in 'living space' where a "normal amp' simply doesnt, so mrs bert is quite happy that it stays "down stairs" where I want to be using it. That was the #1 criteria for me, and why I went for this amp - Ive had "small amps" before for using in "living areas" and TBH, they are a fucking nuisance and do look wrong.

The sounds is bigger, quite a bit bigger than the physical size suggests - there are some great tones in there, the f/x are pretty good, and HUGE FUN. Some of the models are a bit close, but they what is there is, for me, very usable.

Ive only used 1 guitar with it (the squier 62 custom) and it works nicely on three of the 5 amp types. Need to see what it sounds like with beefier woods and HBs.

No attempt to connect it to a PC, so no experimenting with the editing s/w.....................

If you want something really small, really portable and looks great - to compliment what you already use "in your music room" as a convenience/bit of fun or as a travel amp - this is the kiddy.

As your only piece of kit....... ? nah Im not convinced

well an hour with the love rock, and no 'interruptions' - I can tell you it has more than enough for the above. (well I dont know about VH cos I dont play any.....)

The Class A and the 'Dr Z' models - get there with no effort at all. Pushed, with high output HBs - (JB) the Class A gets into Rev Billy G easily

I even plugged my laptop in for backing tracks - and it really works well.......the mix controls are superb. You dont get - or feel - that 'fighting for the speaker as you do with some other small 'modellers' that have an aux in.

It really is the perfect 'lounge' noodling/jam machine
