Do you have a Adobe Bridge loaded? That's where you would normally import RAW files. I have the full CS6 product and RAW files are supported. It could be you just have a demo version of PS without the associated support programmes. Check to see if you can download Bridge.

You wouldn't usually open a RAW file directly in PS, but instead would open it in Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) and it is then opened in PS as a PSD file.

ok ive got bridge loaded up but even in bridge I can only get some of the pictures into photoshop (still displaying the checkerboard) and when I can I desaturate (B&W) and then it wont let me use the history pen to bring back the highlighted colour..

I also heard there was a programme called pop that did this but I ant even find this to use it!

Are these RAW files you're opening?

Are you opening them in Adobe Camera Raw?

TBH they sound like they're JPG's and that they're already corrupted, but I'd be interested in seeing answers to the two questions. It is possible that the JPG's, which Bridge uses as the preview file even when looking at the RAW, are corrupted and the RAW's not.

right kind of got round it - deleted the images from the computer, loaded them directly into Bridge, found 'Desaturation' on the drop down list at the top and hey presto the history pen now works - phew!

Now does anyone know any 'white' studios for hire in southend, Im getting far too many shadows now the sun misses my house - In summer it comes streaming through the windows and I can get lovely indoor pics, but now its so loow and late I dont think it even touches the house... AAaaargh!

OPtion - I used to follow the World Superbike series and used to get some amazing shots at Brands Hatch & Donnington - How is it easier to take pics of 200mph bikes than it is to take pics of two kids?!?!?!?!
