Default Home theatre types - Android Set top boxes, any good ?

Tired of waiting for the AppleTV3 to get jailbroken.

Anybody tried these Android units yet ? They're not exactly expensive ! The Pivos XIOS DS is looking just the job.

I want something to run XBMC in the lounge that doesn't have a ruddy gurt fan whining away 24x7.

If you're feeling even slightly techie, surely you want the Raspberry Pi with something like RaspBMC?

I've been thinking of getting a little Android dongle or something. My Panasonic Plasma is an amazing TV, but it is pre-smartTV. And so adding net functions via Android would be great. I'm already an Android user on phone and tablet so have lots of apps I'd use.

Just unsure of which device to buy.

By all accounts, those Android dongles are pretty shocking. Woefully under-powered, not enough RAM and not very well-tested.

    That is indeed my concern.

Which is why I've held off. The concept is good, but I've yet to see one that looks worth having.

Spec is broadly the same as Apple TV, so should be OK.

If they would just hurry up and add Lovefilm to the AppleTV then I'd buy one. But they haven't, so I won't :'(
