And Rosberg fastest in testing. Who'd have thought of it? Has he been given a kick up the arse by the arrival of Hamilton?

The real problem Merc have is mid-season development. Even in the Brawn season they were far from being the quickest car by the end of the year, having started miles in front. It's looking like their car is pretty good now (though we obviously don't know how much they or the rest might be sandbagging), but if they can't keep pace in the development battle that won't be enough over the course of the season.

I'm just hoping it's not another RB win this year, unless Webber suddenly learns how to beat Vettel. With any luck the DRS-in-DRS-zone-only quali rules will help a bit

The DRS in DRS only zone will not seperate the men from the boys tho.
I dont think these testing sessions are a true indication of things to come , im pretty sure the performances of some of the cars are still being sandbagged .

I agree with the DRS thing, but I cannot understand why the supposed sandbagging? What's the point? It's not like the rest of the teams would just sit back on their laurels and not bother to progress, so I just don't see it.

I think the "sandbagging" thing is more to do with hiding any technical advantage . If a car is obviously quick then all focus will be on it and said technical advantages will be more quickly realised and copied . Its better that its realised after points have been scored as apposed to middle of testing . But your right every team will be burning midnight oil .

As soon as I heard Jenson moaning about the fact that they were struggling to understand the car, I began to wonder if he was lining us up for potential disappointment as Perez prepares to outshine him, or whether he was genuine.

It makes you wonder doesnt it !
So far red bull and ferrari have been economical with their cars performance in testing not saying much to the media . Quietly content ?! I get the impression that Mercedes are just hammering it on track . Its been suggested that Ferrari has a loose back end but then again that could be because they are running low downforce on rear wing on purpose ....

Jensons always struggling to understand the car! They have been pretty much at the top in previous tests which would make me think they have just been fine tuning this last few days and not wanting to show their true potential until Aus.

Not sure about Redbull this year. Crofty on Sky F1 made an interested comment about them reaching the development limits of the current car.May not be true but it may give the other teams some hope.
Playing whilst drunk is only permissable if all other band members are in a similar state.

I didn't see McLaren at the top of the pile apart from Button on the first day in Jerex, I think it was? Have they not been overshadowed by various others through the tests?
