I don't think they are comparable.

The Carbon Copy will doubtless be better at sounding like an analog delay, the Flashback is infinitely more flexible.

I noticedthe TC had an analog switch on it, just wondered how they compared soundwise more than anything.

I've got a TC Electronics Nova Delay (ib modified version) and as of yesterday a Carbon Copy, so I can AB those.

I have in the past owned both the Flashback and the Carbon Copy, but never at the same time.

Depends on what you want it for really. I'm confident that you could make the Flashback sound just like the Carbon Copy, certainly close enough that that no one in an audience at a gig is going to notice the difference.

I guess if you were recording with them you might be able to tell them apart, but again only really if you're listening to examples of each to compare...in isolation from each other they'd both sound great.

cool, just out of interest why buy a carbon copy when youve already got the tc delay??

Heres why Im asking - I get the impression the carbon copy at this price is prob the best delay on the market - but Im looking at the TC as it has t he looper too...

The main thing I find emulated analog delays don't do is sound the same if you tweak them live. They never capture the same pitch shifty feedbacky goodness. For playing I expect it's fine.

Quick answer: I'm greedy and I like pedals?

Long answer: I use the TC on my main gigging board as I need to have pre-sets I can easily recall for a couple of tracks (U2 numbers)...and tap tempo.

However I've just put togther a smaller board for home use with a few pedals that I've got but don't gig with (including a Boss Looper, EHX Freeze, Red Witch Phaser and Micro Pog). I had all those pedals anyway and I mess around with some ambient/soundscape looping, whihc really needs a delay, and I wanted it to be a small footprint dead simple pedal to stick on that board instead of swapping my TC from board to board. I had a CC in the past and liked it's sound, so when one came up in the classifieds here so I went for it.

I don't think it actually made it onto the classifieds, but I was offered it in a trade deal for my Zoom G3. In the end we didn't do the trade as he found one elsewhere, but I managed to sell mine and snap up his CC.

As for the mods to the TC Nova delay, it's a factory done thing...sort of a special limited edition run...details here: http://www.tcelectronic.com/nova-delay-ib-modified.asp

I bought that about a week before the Flashback x4 was announced. Had I waited a week or so I would have gone for one of those...although I do really like having the digital read out with the mS values and you don't get that with the Flashback.

However I bought it with a "buy this get a polytune mini for £1" deal, so I did that and sold the Polytune for £50, so I was chuffed with that!

last question (honest!) - I have played the CC which was lovely but havent got anywhere local that has a TC to try - that feedback knob - does it increase feedback (as in guitar in front of an amp feedback) or reduce it or something totalyl different??
