not really, i'd have said. they have a fair bit of gain but they're not the tightest on the bottom (and also it sorta turns into a fuzz if you crank the gain too much). Don't get me wrong- it'd do in a pinch. But there are better pedals for that, kind of thing, IMO.

RAT for me. I use it for hi-gain, tight-pam muting stuff and it is superb. It just takes a little more time to tweak than your average pedal.

Okay, I think I've found what I want, and it's called the Seymour Duncan Power Grid. I tried one out, even though I'd never heard of it, and it just had it. Exactly what I want, and a fair amount of output, too, so it could do a sort of extreme tubescreamer. I wonder how it will take a tubescreamer in front of it...

Hoping to order it tonight. Thanks for the input everyone! The tri metal was a bit too much for me, unfortunately. However, it's set to become a bit of a 'legend' pedal - hold on to it, one day it'll be 'vintage'! :P

Not sure if anyone has used a power grid, but I'd never heard of it!

Also, really sorry I ended up heeding no ones advice! I really didn't see this one coming, I thought I might wind up with a US Dream, I tried this because a) it's paint job is hideously ugly, and b) I thought it was a fuzz pedal, not distortion... OH HOW WRONG I WAS.

God yeah....I came that close to getting a Power Grid a while back - ended up with a most excellent Twin Toob Classic instead though. Be sure to give us your review when you get it.

Thanks for the vote of future legend status for the Tri Metal , anyone who likes it heavy needs to try one...truly trouser flapping amounts of entirely tweakable gain.

Apparently the Power Grid is the same circuit as the old Marshall Drivemaster. Sounds good in demos by all means, and at £40 new you can't go wrong!

It looks better in real life than in the pictures (ie not pink)
