Default How many delay sounds do you really need??

I have a strymon Timeline. It is the best delay i have ever played, hands down. But it has 200 presets!!
And also loads of the delay types that i barely use.

I only use digital, dBucket and dTape at a gig really.

at a gig, in my set i would use maybe 5 presets in total.

Does anyone actually use most of the delay types and have hundreds of presets?

My presets that I would use at a gig are:
    Pristine digital
    Super Modulated
    Tape
    Slap
    Dotted

I have loads saved, just for messing around at home though.

Dont get me wrong i am incredibly happy with my timeline. the sounds are amazing. and im always tweaking the 5 presets i do use with all the millions of parameters. but i cant help but feel i'm underusing it!

Someone make me feel better and say i desperately need all these features..... Just in case.

i only use one. a delay for solos.

but i mean if you play the type of music that needs a load of different ones you might need them.

In my last band I had 7 I think. Mostly with different modulations & filters on them. A couple were the same but at the right tempo for each song.

I don't actually use delay at all with my current lot. Never thought I'd see the day!

two at the moment - short and thickening. generic long at about 300 ish ms

and I've already started lying - a longer more invasive echo for london calling atmospheric solo bit

so that makes 3 - all on analog or tape type echo

but i'm lazy and we play rock

Provided you can change the time I would say regular analog delay and some wonky modulated.

I probably use 3 or 4 of the modes on my Flashback during a 2-set gig, sometimes with a Toneprint or two. I tend to make it up as I go along a bit, though - I was going to make myself a crib sheet so I know exactly what to do for each song, but I find it's a bit more exciting to just have a guess at the right settings and see what happens

I'm sure it sound fantastic but I couldn't live with all those options! I like to have bits of kit that I tweak inside and out. I've been through a number of delays this year starting with a Carbon Copy which I found a bit too limiting (mod either on or off, only 600ms, but of a dull thud to the repeats), through others to a TC Nova Repeater which although really simple to use was too much (and too digital). Diamond Memory Lane Jr is where I now lie and it's the perfect balance of features without having stuff I don't use (and sounds awesome to boot). Apart from tap tempo you have to adjust on the fly as no presets, although you can turn the mod on/off via a footswitch or half the tempo. I avoid pedals nowadays without their own character (i.e. ones that propose to do lots of different sounds), just a personal preference.

I have a Boss DD20 and love it. I only use two patches with my band though. One subtle 'traditional' solo type of delay setting and a louder setting with more repeats to use as an effect in some passages.

I do use tap tempo though, so I get more mileage out of those two patches. The other patches change as per what I fancy using at home. I really like dotted 8th + chorus modulation for clean sounds.

Three. DD7 for 1/4 note repeats. Flashback for tapey whoosh stuff. and now I want another for solos and I'm done.

An echo park would be nice to replace the flashback if anyones selling one on the board.
