Having worked at JD Wetherspoon for a few years (this was a while ago, mind), I have seen how the food comes in and how it is prepared etc. So long as it's presented OK (which wasn't always the case..especially if it was ME in the kitchen that night..) it's not bad for the money. But there's the rub - "for the money".

I certainly wouldn't want things like frozen mash or frozen veg at an "expensive" restaurant...and I dare say that even if the food DOES come pre-prepared, it differs from the pre-prepared stuff that the ''spoons sell.

Staff pilferage? Could be one reason why they have to cut costs in the produce they buy ....

How expensive, roughly? And if everything arrives frozen is his responsibility as Head Chef just to chuck it in the microwave for 3 minutes?

I ate here yesterday. You're welcome to call them and ask... Since the critics started making a big deal of sourcing a lot of restaurants have gone that way. And that place is only a pub...

I went to a Brasserie Blanc the other day, it was good grub for the same price as a pub meal (for a given type of pub). I'd give 'em another go...

The vast majority all arrives frozen and in bulk. Not exactly the revelation of the century but an interesting fact nonetheless.
TBH I think that says more about the clientele than it does the restaurant. If they cant tell the difference, between fresh and frozen ingredients, they dont deserve to be served it. and tough shit
They sound like the kind of people that go to "expensive" restaurants purely because they can say that have, not because they appreciate/enjoy the food.

I went to MacDonalds the other day, and was perfectly happy because I got exactly what I expected.
