A few years ago, the company I worked for took staff who had completed 5 years of service to Marco Pierre White's in Knightsbridge. The food was artistically presented, but there wasn't much of it and we all dived into the nearest McDonald's afterwards!!!

I know someone who used to work there and they said the same. I'm sure the majority of big chains are the same- Slug/Lettuce, Giraffe, Bella Italia, GBK, etc.

That's a good reason steak is always a good bet. You can't reheat a rare steak and pass it off as freshly cooked

Except that it has been proved (using genetic tests) that in a lot of popular chain restaurants, "steak" is actually zeboo sourced from South America or Africa rather than beef.

on said restaurant in thread, dpends what you are paying for a meal as to whether you'd expect it to be frozen or not, and just what in it was frozen. I mean, frozen peas are good stuff.

food and restaurants, don't think you can generalise based on cost. I've had crap cheap food and crap expensive food, great cheap food, great expensive food. Depends on the place.

BEst restaurant I've ever been to was probably Pied a Terre on Charlotte St in Fitzrovia. 10 course tasting menu was £85 a head. Amazing food and worth every penny IMO. Not the sort of thing I'd often be paying for, but once in a while, very special.

Shittiest expensive food in my experience is often found in hotel restaurants, where they believe their food to be worth a lot more than it is.

I had some really shit food on Tuesday at the IET on Savoy Place. It was supposed to be a risotto, but was more like porridge with parsley in it. Shite. I was a bit pissed though, so troughed it down, what what.

Yes that's what I always tell people. "Order something they can't ruin". Even baked spuds will be microwaved and anything that can be bought in frozen and microwaved will be.
The one I worked in also wasn't past serving stuff beyond its date.
