I've never had a decent steak in France, every last bastard one of them has been utter shite.
The best I've had was in a ressie in Adelaide, where it had been allegedly cooked for 18 hours. Given the time it took to cook, I couldn't help but wonder if I was eating one that some other bloke ordered the night before.
I never think about 'mark up' or 'being ripped off' when I go out for a meal, if the food is good have a decent winelist and we have a great night that'll do me no matter how much profit the restaurant has made from us. great night outs go on the list of places to go again not so great night outs don't...simples

Having said that, the best "meal" I've ever had was a mixed grill in a cafe in Hartlepool. Just under eight quid and it was so big it came on two plates.
