I still get excited about Christmas, especially as our daughter is 4 so last year and this will probably be the most magical for her. Her face when she found the stocking at the end of her bed from Father Christmas was amazing. Then coming downstairs to see the carrot, whiskey, mince pie platter for FC and Rudolph gone, I'll cherish those moments.
This year will be a more modest affair while we get our finances sorted. Presents for the daughter, nieces and nephews and that's it. I'm a little gutted as I like giving people thoughtful presents and I enjoy receiving them, I'll probably get the wife something just in case she's done the same. Our present to each other is supposed to be getting a babysitter in and going to the cinema.

I'm just the same. I love Christmas and always have done - it is by a distance my favourite time of the year - I'd give up my summer holiday well before my Christmas holiday. My son is 2 in Janury and Christmas this year is going to be even better than usual. We have done an "activity advent calendar" for him. Every morning he opens and envelope and it tells him what activity he will do that day. Today is making Christmas cards. Tomorrow is buying and decorating the Christmas tree etc.

    Just fantastic.

Yep, our 5 yr old will be bursting with excitment, our 7 yr old however is only a semi-believer in Santa now, growing up already

Yeah - it's a fantastic feeling when you know you've gotten away with a pointless lie. Probably less fun in a few years when your kid realises you made a fool of her though.

This feathered fella wasn't voting for Christmas

... or maybe you could say he was voting against it with his feet (and/or wings)
He who laughs last ... is still using a slow modem

I wouldn't say it's a pointless lie, childhood should be filled with magic and wonder and I don't think I was too scarred when I realised the truth. The realisation that my dad couldn't just stick an engine on my skateboard was an entirely different betrayal though. Bastard.

For me it was year after year of not getting a sonic screwdriver.

    That explains a lot. I think you've over-compensated now ...
