    Default New/old amp day

Thanks to Big Paulie (also for the pic!) - my new 100W, two-channel, British-voiced, with reverb amp:

    Carlsbro Sherwood Classic

Don't scoff, it sounds great! Goes very nicely with the 'electric/acoustic' output of my new/old '77 Les Paul Signature.

It's also nowhere near as heavy as you'd expect for a 100W amp with a 15" speaker, which is nice. Also nice is that it cost me half a 4x12", via a trade for a 1x12" cab and then a swap, so it feels almost like it was free . (Which goes some way to offset the price of the guitar!)

    Tranny .

Still sounds great. No idea what it's like overdriven though! Probably not a good idea. It was meant as an acoustic amp, although by modern standards it's quite primitive for that, not having much in the way of anti-feedback stuff or even a particularly hi-fi sound. But it sounds really good for clean electric.

At some point I will try it with pedals or an overdrive preamp too, it would be nice to have the option of putting my whole split/blended electric/acoustic sound through one amp. Until now I've used my Leem "Professional Multiple Amplifier" (as I always say about that, two out of three ain't bad... ) for this - although never in public, I normally use the PA - but the Carlsbro is much better-sounding. I had thought about looking for one of the Rivera valve ones, but they're extremely rare, and expensive.

    Glad you like it, John.

I also happy with my side of the deal as I didn't have a use for the Carlsbro ATM.

    Enjoy
