This whole story has been absolutely tragic beyond description!

The DJ's couldn't have known what state of mind she was in, and for sure would not have wished a suicide on anyone. At any other time it would have been simply harmless humour. You can argue back and forth until the cows come home, but the truth is that no-one will ever know if a prank call tipped her over the edge. Now the DJ's are being pilloried by self righteous, moralising tossers on the Internet when the self-same tossers have absolutely no idea whatsoever what caused the woman to take her own life, and the DJ's stand to lose their livelyhoods over it with the trial by public outrage. It makes me sick.

I like prank calls, and I think people like Tom Mabe are very entertaining. However, beyond the "impersonation of royalty", and all the embarrassment and the very tragic consequences of this prank, nobody seems to have mentioned at any point how appropriate it is to actually call a hospital for a joke?

It's a hospital! It's a crime to make a hoax 999 call, so why isn't it a crime to waste a hospital's time with a prank call? I can't imagine a prank call to the fire brigade or the police would be legal, so why is it (seemingly) legal to call a hospital for a joke?

If I thought someone who I cared about was being looked after in a hospital and that certain people were calling that hospital for a joke, to say that I wouldn't be impressed is a massive understatement! Pranks are all well and good, but some things are just not funny at all, and to my mind calling a hospital and wasting their time for entertainment is absolutely ludicrous.

I can't help thinking that for the sake of a cheap laugh two children will remember Christmas as the time their mother dies, not a time of toys and happiness. I don't really care as much about how the DJs feel.

I think it is a crime:
"Knowingly or recklessly obtaining or disclosing personal data or information without the consent of the data controller," is how it is defined under the Data Protection Act 1998.
    It's colloquially known as "blagging"

    Tragically, I couldn't agree more.

The Aussie press are claiming the UK is on a witch hunt. The nurse in question was born in India, was apparently sensitive and looks to have taken the joke badly. And to those who say 'pranks have been carried out for years' the introduction of Twitter, FaceBook and the press moving online means that this prank has a wider coverage and more publicity than it would have done 20 years ago. To my mind the DJs are culpable for stoking the fires and keeping this poorly judged prank on the the front pages of newspapers worldwide for the benefit of their employer.

And it looks like the Duchess of Cambridge is not feeling well [nothing to do with the prank] ... hope she's OK .. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/ukne...-sickness.html

And we still may never know the reason she allegedly took her own life, but meanwhile the Internet wolf-pack continues to harass the "guilty" DJ's. They're already guilty of murder in the eyes of the morally-outraged herd, despite being 12,000 miles away, and the sad event taking place 3 days later. The police haven't said how she died yet, and presumably it could have been for any number of reasons, but the pre-judging is what's pissing me off.

the implication here is that you are blaming the djs - they didnt kill this woman - this woman killed this woman - its her that left the kids motherless and its her that has badly damaged the lives of two cheeky djs - the nurse was the victim of a prank call and a killing - she was also the perpetrator of one of those

I was actually stating concern for the children who've lost a parent, and also the DJs, but not nearly as much. They are probably wracked with with guilt, which is a great motivator, for what their actions may have caused to happen.
