If we're talking modern pretenders to Kate's crown then I'd nominate Natasha Khan (Bat for Lashes).

I agree. Natasha Khan is fab.

Glad to see the Kate love on here. Usually people pull a face when I say I like her or Bjork.

Kate wins just for this photo. A huge version of it was on a bus shelter outside my flat for a while. it made going to work a little more tolerable.

A huge Kate fan here, tho' I can't deny Aerial was a bit of a letdown after waiting so long for something new, but this wasn't as big a disappointment as the very, very patchy and at times woefully misguided Directors Cut Collectors Edition box set. Some of the reworked tracks are inspired, but other are just plain wrong, not something I ever thought I'd say about her.

Still, there's always the sublime Hounds of Love and Sensual World, both as near perfect as makes no difference for me. As mentioned earlier in this thread, imo the This Womans Work box set is a must have for any fan, if only for the 2 bonus discs.

what i find impressive about kate bush is that she seems to be able to recreate what appear to be entirely random sequences of notes exactly the same every time she sings - i bet she knows pi to like a zillion decimal places

Yeah I found that CD on Amazon... No legal downloadable version of the track anywhere though, and these days I require instant digital gratification
