So ... cancer = you die, treatment = you die but it's more strung out and your life isn't that good. I'd reject the treatment, but in the meantime I'd party.
However that's my choice and I'm in my mid 50s. What a child would choose I can't say, neither would I want to be the arbiter of whatever his mum chose for him.

I suppose when the life of a child (who can't decide for himself legally) is at stake, then it seems the most rational thing to do.
