    Default Stove top espresso

Are all stove top espresso wotsits all made equal?

im fed up with the naff pod things the missus uses and I'm after a simple bit of kit that I can stick on the stove when I feel like it.

    recommendations please!
The Reverend Lord Henry was not one of those new-fangled parsons who carry the principles of their vocation uncomfortably into private life.

I use a Bialetti stainless steel job, 4 cup model, and Carte Noir ground coffee. Makes two decent sized mugs of coffee, and I use 250ml of hot milk in each cup, (500ml microwaved for 4 minutes). Dunno how experienced you are, but make sure you pack the coffee down well, and fill it with hot water to just below the safety valve.

I don't like the cheapo alloy ones.

    Job done.

I also use a Bialetti. 6 cup here. But I don't use any warm milk in coffees. Just the espresso straight into a mug. The 6 cupper fills a standard mug, if you want to work that way, then I just add a splash of cold milk.

One other thing I do is I use cold water rather than Chillidoggys hot.

How about a Rancilio Silvia? Which to be fair would work better beside your stove not on top of it.

I have one surplus to requirements*, very good condition -- almost mint in fact -- £200 delivered.

    Makes perfect espresso every time.

    * there are only so many coffee machines a man can have; they're not like guitars I've realised.

Moka Express - it's what they use in Italy - cheap and cheerful
(you do wonder if they ever explode though)
My Italian friend said never to wash it hard - just a quick rinse - as the flavour improves that way !

I was just looking at them on Amazon. Might be a plan!

Grun, I have no room for another machine in the kitchen I'm afraid.
