Uli Jon Roth doesn't get the credit he deserves, amazing stuff with the Scorpions in the 70's. Hendrix + Bach an obvious influence on Yngwie whats-his-face and all the shredders in the '80s

Anthony Drennan, I believe he plays with the Corrs now but I have an old Davy Spillane (Irish bagpipe player bloke) album called "Out of the Air" where he is brilliant (Rory Gallagher also a guest on that album, it's outstanding). Wonderful Telecaster tones and playing.

Tim Smith, Christian Hayes, Jon Poole - the Cardiacs. Mental.
Matt Rach - Great stuff on Youtube
Geoff Tyson - A pupil of Satriani's and is amazing. I've never heard another guitarist sound like him. Check out T-ride from the early '90s.

That little fella playing guitar with Rihanna on The X Factor last night, Nuno something or other...He's a bit handy I believe! How my young lady friend was enthralled as I told her who he was whilst enduring the programme last night. To be fair, she had heard of 'More Than Words' so knew of him already.

    Other than that...Richie Kotzen.

    +1 for Kotzen.

Steve Vai is vastly underrated IMO, as a composer anyway

Nuno Bettencourt, I wouldn't say he's underrated or unknown though tbh.

Another vote for George Benson here. Utterly jaw dropping player when he chooses to be. And he plays with 14 gauge strings. Ralf McTell is also very underrated.
