    i haven't tried it, but from any clips i've heard, the riot is way more modern-sounding than classic rock, i'd have thought.

    Your current set-up only needs one of these in the loop. I've used one for years: http://www.award-session.com/solobooster.html
    Totally passive, no batteries needed, simple to set up and cheap to buy; I think I paid about £35.

    I use a Boss GE7 in the fx loop, does for my needs.

    I loved the crunch channel of the dual but chanel 2 had an annoying bass boost. Also the build quality sucked and the thing broke in multiple fashions.
