In which case you might want to try a different material rather than a different thickness.
You could say that, yes. Like I say, it's only that I feel I need to go slightly thinner for Funky 16th strumming. I've generally only ever used the Dunlop Tortex plecs 0.73ish. I've had a go with the nylon ones a couple of times but tried not to get into the habit of choppin and changing. But I think to myself, WHY, maybe it's not so bad? If it improves that particular part of your playing.

    What other materials are there?

Thanks. I'll do a little experimenting, although the metal ones are definitely OOTQ.

I forgot carbon fibre which is silly as Carbon Jazz III is my fav pick.

Metal picks are pretty cool. You get loads of attack, but it's really easy to break strings.

I have a few! They're not very user friendly though.

What I actually use is one of these:

Dava master control nickel tip. A lot more expensive than a 2p coin, but much easier to use than either a 2p or a sixpence IMO. Worth a try if you enjoy the tone from a coin but want something that feels more like a regular pick.

Ditto. Until recently when I was given a Dunlop Ultex Sharp 2mm to try and now everything else (including to s degree my old fave the Jazz III XL) feels a bit naff. Really chuffed with them.

Another one that Jazz III XL users might want to try is the Planet Waves Black Ice - pretty much as good as a J3XL and feels a bit softer/nicer in the hand imho.
    Red ones are better.
