Default What is a half decent Flanger pedal?? Without costing a fortune please.

Boss BF-2?? Any others you might recommend? Oh and tell me the same on Phase pedals whilst we're at it.

Mooer ElecLady is a good sounding Electric Mistress clone from the demos I've seen.

Cheap and in stock at Marcmart if you don't mind waiting for delivery…

    Boss BF-2.

Phaser: Boss PH-1R if you can find one. PH-2 if you can't.

The 2s are good-sounding, reliable pedals that do what they're supposed to without a huge amount of quirkiness or perhaps character - but the PH-1R is the best small-box phaser ever made in my opinion. And that includes the Phase 90. I had a dead mint original Phase 90 once, which I A/B'd with the Boss, and it was possible to set the Boss so you genuinely couldn't tell which pedal was on, so I sold the old MXR for a large amount of money...

Avoid the BF-3 and PH-3 though.

Bf2 is good but I ditched mine in favour of an MXR Micro flanger

    Fab organic flange!

    MXR Micro Flanger.

I had one, then stupidly sold it. Now top of the list of pedals I want to buy again.

Always been a Deluxe Electric Mistress fan but it's too big, so I tried a Mooer Eleclady. Not the same, but pretty good. Personally I don't like the BF2.
Phaser-wise I would recommend the MXR Phase 100.

Mooer. Check the demo on the Gimourish web site. I want one and don't like flangers!

I've been gigging with an MXR EVH 90 phaser for ages because I just love that sort of lush swoosh and with just one knob it's perfect for gigging -- set speed and go. Just a lovely spot effect.

But a few weeks ago I just fancied a change and dug out a flanger, an old Ibanez FL-9 which I always disliked because it wasn't as flangey as my BF-2 but now I think that subtlety is a plus point: you get the sound of your guitar with a shimmering glisten of flanging, rather than the obvious cycle of modulation with a guitar struggling to be heard behind it. So basically, an old FL-9. They do a re-issue, not exactly cheap and I don't know if it sounds the same.

Can't beat Mooer for the price.

The MXR is also very good for flanger and (obv) phase.

I second the Ibanez FL9. It's a lot more subtle than the other flangers I've used and can sound very much like a chorus. I find that many flangers take over your sound whereas the fl9 kind of sits back and enhances the sound. It's hard to describe but it's my favourite so far although I do fancy trying one of those Mooers.
