I guess the only real solution is to own one of each. So far I have never owned a strat(fender or otherwise) but I have played a few and liked them, and looked at them with one hand hovering over my wallet. I have a tele and used to have a Gibson Les Paul, I missed the Les Paul but instead of laying out the cash for another one I settled on an epiphone special, and I just might have to take a look at those squire strats, the tele is great but it's just not a strat. The reason I bought a Les Paul way back in my youth was because I was obsessed with Jimmy Page, and almost every picture of him showed him playing a Les Paul. I couldn't figure out how he was getting those sounds, and figured it was just because he is Jimmy Page and then I found out years later that he recorded most of Led Zeps first two albums with a tele. DOH!

For me, and now I'm in the wrong forum for this, but it's acoustics.

Really do not get on with them well, they take my playing to new levels of amateurism.

I have one, I kind of enoy playing it...I'd end up replacing it if I ever got rid of it but.....I could never love it.

    SGs

Hate the look. When I've played them they've been too thin and light...but somehow once in a while I think to myself...

But the problem is that they sound fantastic...

I don't think I'll ever own one though.

Firebirds. Possibly the best-looking guitar ever, but the balance and neck position problem make them unplayable, for me. Still can't resist playing every one I see in case the laws of physics have changed since last time.

pretty much every guitar calls to me and pretty much every single one sounds crap in my hands... except basses - I like Jazz basses and not precisions but they both sound double crap in my hands

Telecasters. I don't like the sound (but I can appreciate how others can use it), they feel horrible to play, they look rank and they're a touch too heavy too.

Les Pauls come second - love everything about them, but they're just too heavy for me to gig.

335s - that body is just tooo wide, makes it really awkward (rather than unduly uncomfortable) to play

All the "standard" guitars for various reasons, including but not limited to Strats, Teles, LPs, SGs, 335s, acoustics and classicals.
