    Default good distortion

I have a danelectro 56 u2 pro into a fender fm100 head and an old 60's vox cab. This sounds very good, especially the clean sound and a crunchy rhythm is sound is very nice but there isn't enough juice or definition to make single note riffs to stand out. I play my own kind of indyish funkishness, I'm after a Blood sugar sex magic kinda tone. Any ideas, preferably cheap.

Try a Dod 250 booster as well, cheap as chips and can double up as a boost and an overdrive. Here's a linky with a sound sample which will give you an idea of wht it can do. Also check out the Behringer stuff and if you are looking for the Marshall sound, one of these which got for around £35 over here and are very versatile and have a good tonal and drive range.

This is the only one I own, a lot of people maon about the build quality of Behringer pedals, i'm happy plus the DC9 is in a metal case which is better than the plasticky ones.

Got my bad monkey for 9 less than that.

Dod 250 is an awesome pedal, but theres something else you should try first: the mxr distortion +. Its virtually identical and can be modded to the Dod's specs with a little ease. Plus I think the 250 is going for quite a lot s/h thesedays, unless digitech have released a version..?

I'm super impressed with the old marshall guvnor. If the new ones are 1/2 as good they'd be wortha try, and they're really good value.

I don't like marshalls so i guess that makes it hard to try and emulate that sound but I want a bright clear snappy kinda distortion, i think i'll try a compressor and an eq pedal

Compressors to try: Behringer, Marshall (v Nice), Dod/digitech Milkbox (if you can find one).

EQs Boss 7 band, MXR 10band. The boss is probably the best for less notes, behringer do a cheap copy but I havent heard it myself.
