I quite like the sound of a Celestion G12H in modest-wattage fender combos if you're using distortion a lot. Nicely balanced sound but plenty of oomph.

I think they often use them in Dr Z's and other such boutiquery.
Whosoever steppeth upon a distortion pedal in my sight shall make a sound that is unclean.

Rip that Jensen out without further delay is my recommendation, they really do sound harsh and are not a great match for already bright fender amps IMO, don't know why fender still insist on them. Something with a little more midrange is good if you want mostly drive sounds but you will lose a little blackface type scoop. Warehouse Guitar Speakers do a Jensen type with smoother highs if you want to stay in the same ballpark, you can get them In the UK from lean business, they're pretty cheap too.

Huge thanks for all the suggestions - as I have two Orange 2x12s with pairs of 16 ohm Vintage 30s in them, I'm going to take one of them out and try it, if I like it then I can judge any EQ differences in a speaker from there. Thanks again!
