Default Guitar pedal DIY circuit grounding it's self

It's based on a Dallas Rangemaster at the moment, with everything plugged in it's making that sound that amps make when you leave the guitar cable on the floor. Transistor is the correct OC44.

    Err.....

Double check your wiring and the orientation of the transistor....

Is it in a box? Sometimes the metal box is needed to make the sleeve connection to the output jack.

Do you have a multimeter? Can you post the schematic?

Do you have it connected to a DC adapter that is connected to anything else, specifically anything with a negative ground? If so,mk think that's your problem.

wiring is all good, and i've been over the transistor thing constantly. No signal is getting through at all, though touching the guitar strings makes a difference to the earthing noise. No DC adapter.

Think you've got something there with the box misterg, I didn't buy one.

I just put it in all in a guitar pedal box. Signal is going through when the battery is not connected, but cutting of completely when it is. Positive is input ground, negative going to the board, like it should be.

Battery polarity is correct, but I'm 99% sure something is wrong with your wiring. Are you using a foot switch with 9 contacts on? If so, check that you haven't got it 90 degrees out to the wiring diagram.
