It's also the sort of mistake many people might make when building one for the first time, especially if they've already done a few negative-ground ones and "know what they're doing". I've done it! Many years ago when I'd only been working on stuff a short time I fixed an old Tonebender, which was the first positive-ground pedal I'd come across - the battery clip had got pulled off (unfortunately at the circuit board end, so there was no obvious colour coding to follow), so I reconnected it... and found it still didn't work, which was odd because the owner said it had until the clip came off. Eventually after looking more closely at the circuit - with some puzzlement initially - I realised the battery had to be the other way round! Luckily it didn't kill a cap or a transistor.

It's got the exact same model of transistor as the schematic, and I've tried everything both ways twice. The transistor must be broken. Power comes from a battery.

Are you aware that these transistors vary massively and there is a very high possibility that some of the component values will need adjusted from that schematic to suit yours.

This is worth a read, if you haven't already. http://www.geofex.com/article_folder...er/atboost.pdf

Man, that's a large amount of reading. I knew roughly what I was getting into ^^

Thanks everyone for the help, think I'll probably give up for now though.

Do you have a multimeter? If so, we can talk you through a quick check of the transistor & circuit.
