    Default Best value electro acoustics?

Maybe up to a max of 700 squids...hopefully less. Started out thinking those new APX700II's look n sound nice (plugged in) and I know they sound acceptable if nothing great unplugged, and i remember how comfortable they are to play, mainly because i'm primarily an electric player and find big acoustic bodies cumbersome. So what do you suggest I take a look at?

Here are my options so far but naturally open to a nudge in the other direction.

APX700II £415...comfy guitar to play, sounds good enough plugged in, not too pricey.

Takamine EG460SC £414 so almost exact same price as the yam above.

Freshman Apollo 3DC £454 sounds fab in this demo...

and whilst not seen any great demos top of the tree is the Freshman Apollo 4OC which is the one out of this lot that is all solid woods rather than just the top. £654

Any others to take a look at..and any advice gratefully received.

My favourites in the hopefully less than £700 price bracket are Simon & Patrick or Seagull. Both are made by Godin but have slightly different design philosophies. I can't really comment on their plugged in tone, but I like their acoustic tone. They do several smaller body models, and even a mini jumbo which was pretty easy to handle IIRC, but I play a normal jumbo so am already used to big guitars. Other brands worth a look are Faith, and Guild GAD.

Try our Hudson, they're Cranes of Cardiff's own brand. They're amazing for the money, way better than my Takamine and my friends' Faith that was almost twice as expensive. We also used it over two Gibsons and a Taylor that lived in the recording studio when my band recorded acoustic tracks on our album this year. They only bad part I'd say about it is the stock tuners are a bit crappy on the model I have, they could do with an upgrade.

If you can find 'em, give Cort a go.

There is a lot of "Oh no, not Cort!" snobs in the world.

Chances are, they've never played an MR710F.

If you haven't, I'd consider giving one a go before you judge Cort.

A Tanglewood TW47 comes within that figure. I have played and parted with many guitars because they didn't hit the mark. Mines a keeper and have had it for three years which is a record.

Try a Tanglewood TW47 before you buy anything.

If you like a guitar with a shorter scale, but still with a 14 fret neck join, you can go wrong with the Vintage Paul Brett parlour - insane value for money, sounds great acoustic or plugged in. I've played all the Yamaha APX/CPX guitars and I reckon this is better value for money, and a better guitar than the APX II 700 imho.
