Default The Who - Live At Hull

Listening to this now, probably louder than is wise. (It's the other show recorded at the time of Live at Leeds). Sounds incredible.
    Is it worth buying?
Hang on - let me put Live At Leeds on.

Er......On balance - you probably don't need both.

Apparently the band thought they were better at Hull, but there were some technical problems with the original recording... presumably fixed now with the magic of digital editing. I picked up the remastered Live At Leeds recently, if this is better they'll be going some!

"Live At Hull" doesn't have quite the same ring to it as "Live At Leeds" though...

I've got both (listened to Leeds for years, have all the versions released) and think Hull is looser with louder drums and Moon more reckless/flexible with the timing (more so than usual). Less chat between songs than Leeds, e.g. on the Tommy section (at the start before "Overture", you get less of the assemble the musicians bit but still hear Moon berating the audience with "bleedin Opera, shut up!!"). I would love to have seen them at IoW or on this short tour before the 70's excesses began, sad to watch the 77 Kilburn stuff to see how much Moon had slowed down (I was 3 when Leeds/Hull was recorded sadly).
