F/S Fender Tweed Bassman Reissue - SOLD

1999 Fender Bassman Reissue 4 x 10 Combo. Pine Cabinet. Speakers are original 4 well broken in Jensen P10R’s.

These originally came without a lacquer finish to the tweed covering. I lacquered this one with 3 coats of amber tinted nitrocellulose lacquer, which has worked very well, providing the amp with both a nice vintage look and also protection for the tweed fabric.

Serviced by ICBM approx. 6 months ago at which time 3 simple, well documented and reversible mods were made to bring the tone closer to that of a vintage Bassman. R21 changed from 6k8 to 10k, C24 disconnected, Bias adjustment pot installed (Taken off at R41 which was removed). Bias pot was put in the face plate in place of the redundant “ground” switch fitted on these, so the chassis was not drilled. The amp is currently configured with a 12AY7 in V1 providing a little more clean headroom and the solid-state rectifier has been replaced with a GZ34 valve.

The changes made have tamed the sometimes fierce top on these reissues giving it a much more “vintage” character. It can easily be returned to stock if preferred.
