There's also a bit in Vai's touching tongues - well a few bits actually

I do like this Primus song, they really pushed the envelope and I think they were successful at it more often than a lot of bands in that vein. Zappa, I love most of his guitar solos but I must say, I've always thought he was playing kind of "off" on purpose here and of course "Joes Garage". My fav album for Zappa solos is "Overnight Sensation", correct me if I'm wrong but I think he stays with the more conventional scales and modes on it.

I play in the school jazz band. The pianist is a good friend of mine and whenever we play together I bug him to just play a whole tone scale as fast as possible. It's just a really cool-sounding scale.

I think I may be addicted to it.
My name is Connor and I have a GAS problem.

I also have some videos of myself playing guitar. Here they are.

The whole tone scale can sound great when played in ascending or descending thirds.

Part of the melodic minor scale is whole tone. Start from the minor third and play until the 7th. Sounds nice over a dom7#11 chord or a 7#9. E.g. the whole tone part F melodic minor starting on the minor 3rd would be

    Ab Bb C D E

you could play this over E7#9 or Bb7#11

Often used by Robben Ford on the I-IV turnaround in da Blues.

I don't think anyone has mentioned this example yet. Dave Gilmour uses it at 14m 00s in 'Dogs': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bqZFp7dWbg

Cool, "Animals" is one my favorite Pink Floyd Albums, overshadowed by "Dark Side of the Moon" and "The Wall". I'll have to re-visit it for sure now.

You're not alone, I've met several Floyd fans who feel the same way. Definitely a more 'challenging' listen that Dark Side of The Wall ;-)
