Are Flying Vs and Explorers considered ugly ducklings?

Well, I like some spiky metal shapes - not the uber-pointy B.C. Riches and Dean Razorbacks, but I have a definite soft spot for Dean MLs:

    Jackson RRs:

    B.C. Rich's more restrained offerings:

    And this:

    And this:

That particular one is UTTERLY gorgeous.

I also like the Robin Machete, which I think is awesome but most people seem to hate:

And perhaps the ultimate ugly duckling:

My name is Connor and I have a GAS problem.

I also have some videos of myself playing guitar. Here they are.

Gibson Johnny A for me. Too blingy, too pointy, slightly odd and VERY Deco, but I'd love one.

Nice to see some Crowes on here. They're touring in March (no Ford, Freed or Dickinson unfortunately. The second guitar slot has gone to Jackie Greene). Dates: http://www.nme.com/news/the-black-crowes/67905

As for my own duckling lust (that sounds so wrong) what about this whacked-out cross between something from the Jetsons and an Alessi kettle - The Burns Jet-Sonic. Love it:

The Ned Callan or 'Nobbly Ned' as they were known in the seventies, was rather interesting. Luthier Peter Cook designed them for Rose Morris to be sold under the Shaftsbury brand umbrella along with their Japanese imports that were also branded Shaftsbury. Peter Cook didn't want to use his own name on a mass market guitar so the made up the name Ned Callan. Cooks workshop couldn't handle mass production so Shergold made up the bodies and necks to his spec. Completely British made, they actually play really well and sound cool too. My local music shop had a couple in the seventies when I was a teen, and I used to go in and play them to death ... but they were priced just above my reach, so I settled for an Antoria LP instead. Always regret not holding out for the 'Nobbly Ned' ... bags of character. Now they are quite rare and I've seen them go for silly money ...

I've mentioned my "ugly duckling" a couple of times but not put any photos up, so to rectify that, here is my EC29 in all its 80s over the top glory.

I actually wanted a black / purple crackle one, but as they are pretty rare in any finish and this one was in pretty much perfect condition (the trem needed a bit of work as one of the fine tuners was sticking) I decided to buy it anyway. In the flesh, the finish is just as hideous as you would imagine. The guitar on the other hand is fantastic. So much so in fact that ...

It has recently been joined by its plainer (but no less deformed) sister. This black one was an absolute bargain and I simply could not pass it up.

I'm still looking for an EC36 and if anyone ever sees one for sale, please let me know.

Prior to seeing it in the other thread, I would have emphatically said NO! There was no unusually shaped guitars that appealed in any way, shape or form, but then Connor posted his Dad's GAS of a new/old Ibanez Iceman. I want one!!

That crackle finish, while hardly tasteful, is nowhere near as bad as some I've seen.

One day I will have a custom one made with a natural finish and a fixed bridge. Pure shred
