    Default THR Headphone Volume

I can't get the headphone volume high enough from my THR5, does anyone know if there an adjustment in the software for this.

Master and overall volume knobs on full, raising the gain in "clean mode" any more naturally brings on early break up.

Headphones are Sennheiser model "HD 5,something,something" with 64 ohm drivers, I'm not sure if they are particularly inefficient to drive, never really noticed a problem before the THR.

If, as it seems, it is a headphone issue, can you recommend an alternative fully enclosed set, £120 budget, I use my headphones a lot, must be comfortable.

    Cheers,

Cheers, I tried a pair of headphones my Missus uses with her mp3 player and they are a lot louder, but they sound terrible. So it could be my Sennheisers :0(

Finally got fed up with the low volume from my THR when using phones, so I bought some Sony MDR-7510 headphones, based on the music radar review. What a difference they make, improved clarity, but more important for me I can now get some volume out of the phones without having to set the master and volume knobs at "10".

One comment I would make about the Sony's is that being a closed back design they get a bit warm after a while.

I use Sennheiser HD360s with my THR and no issues. Maybe your Senns were faulty?

I auditioned some headphones recently and I found that Beyer 770 pros at 80 ohms was really quiet when used with an iPhone. The Audio Technica ATH m50 were noticeably louder at 38 ohms. So there is a significant difference depending inthe resistance. At 68ohms I can't imagine the Senns would be particularly loud really. You might consider a little headphone amp, you can buy them on amazon for about 20 quid.

Sony's impeadance is 24 ohms, I suspect this has a significant effect. before I bought the new phones I did try a small amplifier I had kicking a round, (not a hifi headphone amp I admit) but I found the additional noise irritating.

Maximum input power for the Sony is listed as 2000mW
