    Default Shorter Scale Acoustics

Does anyone use a shorter scale acoustic like the Martin 000-18 or a vintage J45 (629-632mm)? Is there any real noticeable difference between these and a normal scale acoustic?

    yes
    and yes

I have a custom scale 635 and a short scale 608mm - apart from the obvious lower tension, making them easier to play - to me it adds some depth in the lower registers.......HOWEVER, the short scale is harder to intonate as you go up the neck - very noticeable when using a capo 5th fret and higher

    Totally agree with bertie.

I play a shorter scale Tanglewood.

Size isn't everything, sometimes big things come in small packages. Can certainly be the case with smaller scale acoustics
