I use all of these and they all work great with the AC30HW2X.........

    SD-1
    Bad Monkey
    Wampler Pinnacle
    Dano TOD, Overdrive
Guv'nor MK I and MK II
    HT Dual
    Satchurator

now, here is the key point...use the normal channel!!!! If you use the Top Boost channel then well loads of 'em can potentially sound pish. Done last gig new yrs eve and I was loving the sounds I was getting with mostly the Pinnacle and the Guv'nor MK I + Bad Monkey, my amp was screaming its nuts off with some lovely toanz and controllable feedback. Using the normal channel on my AC30 I have the cut set to minimum to all more top end to come through on the naturally dark sounding normal channel. My amp does have a lil toggle on the normal channel that is a boost for the treble but it seems to go a bit too far and make the amp go from too dark to too harsh in one quick leap so thats always off. I do need to experiment more with the top boost channel as thats what most AC30 fans love about these amps...but I'm coming from the Brian May/Rory G side of things where the money is all on the normal channel. Give the normal channel a whirl if you've not done already....i honestly so far haven't found an OD pedal that doesn't work with it. Oh and on mine (current handwired model) I bypass the master volume so its old school all the way!

Hows it going with the amp. (that was one long day for me after my trip to sussex afterwards). Re standby switch, i always left it 'on' and never had a problem. Always took a good 10 or so seconds after powering on for the green light to shine.

+1 on the Hot Cake, alleged to be THE pedal for AC30's

    That particular amp likes:
Demeter Fuzzulator - the only fuzz I found that would work well with it.
Throbak Treble Booster - particularly if it's running on a cheapo battery
    Xotic - AC Booster

    It does not like:
    MXR MC-401 overdrive and boost
    Big Muff or Double Muff
    Seymour Duncan Lava Boost

The only pedal better than a Hotcake is a Double Hotcake! When I first got mine I just assumed it was two regular Hotcakes in one box but it's so much more. I've only recently got my head round how it works with both sides engaged, the controls on one side are bypassed and replaced with a gain control and an extra gain stage is added (I think). Basically it gives you a third sound that works great as a lead boost but can also do a pretty good fuzz impression.
If you go for the single pedal, try and find a later model with the internal switch to select normal or Bluesberry model as they do sound different. I prefer the Bluesberry model as I find the normal version a little fizzy at some settings.

Re AC30's channels, I've always felt either channel on its own sounds a bit shit tbh. It's when they're linked that the magic happens.

The Zvex Distortron also sounds teh shizzle.

    It's just fine Geoff .
