Well, so far, we've got some who don't like them because of how they look, some not keen on the price (considering there are pedals out there for the same price that look better?).
It's how it sounds that matters to me, but I can't find anything on YouTube.

It also has a couple of extra components before the first gain stage, a much more complicated clipping network, an entirely different tone stage and an extra buffer between the tone stage and the output. So it certainly isn't a clone or even a near derivative.
yeah that sounds about right, i think. i've looked up about it before on fsb and places like that. I don't think it qualifies as the "game changer" that some people seem to claim, but at the same time it's not the "I've-reinvented-the-wheel! Oh-wait-no-I-haven't-it's-just-a-tubescreamer-with-LED-clippers" guff that passes for innovation in (certain parts) of the boutique pedal industry either.

The thing I like about it is that it was developed with a clear mission in mind of making a Fendery amp sound like a rock beast. I've also tried it into a Blackstar and it sounded distinctly meh and very muddy. It might be there are other pedals that can do the same job, but it's the only one I've found.
it may well do that (as i said, i haven't tried it).

maybe this is me being ultra-cynical, but isn't that the aim of most distortion pedals? Granted the aim and the execution are two different things, lol.

Probably not , but we've seen the pictures, so it doesn't matter now.

    hahahahaha

to be fair, they do look pretty cheap. I wouldn't give a crap if they sound good, but you have to wonder how a company as big as fender managed to design a pedal that would've looked tacky and out of date in 1986.

No, the problem is that they designed a pedal that would have looked cool and modern in 1986 . If they'd done something that looked out of date in 1986 it would have looked like a Colorsound Overdriver, or... er... a Fender Blender, probably!

    Aha!!!

While looking for a pic of this -

    - just to show how much worse it really could have been if they'd used a design from 1986 ...

    ... I found this -

    - which is what I was trying to remember in the first place. Amdek, not Pro-Tek . And what's more, were made by Roland, who Fender now have a close working relationship with. Hmmmmm....!
