Key of Rush 2112 Overture.

Hey guys. I've recently been asked to analyse most of 2112 by rush. For the intro section Overture I cant figure out the key signature but have pretty much everything else. Chords are E5, Am, C, Csus2, D G, then other /chords.

I dont know the actual tune though.

Its not so much the book I have just been asked to analyse different songs and one of them was overture/temples of Syrinx but cant work out the keysignatures.

Take each section in turn and figure out the tonal centre. The first part seems to be centred on Am. The chords surrounding it suggest Dorian. The next part is centred on Bm and has an Aeolian flavour to it....etc. Break it into smaller pieces.

According to my 30 year old Rush book.
Overture starts in C major, then to B major, A major, B major, C major, D major, B major and the last bar is in C major.
Temples of Syrinx starts in C major, then D major.
You will have to work out when the changes occur. Hope this helps.

That could be a massive help cheers! And just confirms that this is going to be a royal pain in the ass for someone with no theory background .
