    Default Vox Amphones

(I didn't know which sub-forum to put this in as I browse by the "New Posts" button)

The new issue of "Guitarist" has just arrived in the mail. I take it out of the plastic and am presented with the back cover, which is an ad for the new Vox Amphones.

    Click.

    Somewhat bizarre.

    Duno,

I wondered if they would make reasonable/good "active" headphones or whether the modelling would be over bearing?

My HD 560's are fairly inefficient and too quiet with some devices including my THR5

Basically the Amplug built into a set of heaphones.

I actually quite like the idea.

Agreed, the idea of simply pluging your head phones into your guitar and away you go seems quite neat.

I assume you could also plug it into a pedal board....in that case I'm starting to get quite interested.

I was looking at the EHX Headphone amp, but from what I've read there's no amp sim of any sort, so I suspect they'd sound pretty rubbish.

However I did have an amplug (classic rock version IIRC) and I thought that was a horrible little cheap and nasty (and noisy) sounding thing.

I came across a review of these (http://www.digitaltrends.com/headpho...pphone-review/) which emphasized that they are ok headphones, but only with the modelling stuff switched off. Good review though.

Just read the review and they critisize the amp modelling when listening to music, when they plugged a guitar (well actually a P bass) in they said it sounded good. £100 seems like a lot, but if they are actually good headphones, which the review seems to suggest, that's not too bad a price, and the fact you can just plug them in to a guitar is a bonus

Did the review not say $99?
