I'm doing both. Simultaneously and at the same time, together.

Has anyone got a really cheap crappy 5 way switch, a few cans of nitrocellulose black and a left handed tortie scratchplate?

I will begin. My thanks to Fretmeister for his advice on this one. I am planning to make a bass.

    4 strings
    800mm scale
300mm radius Richlite fretboard with HUGE frets
    Injected epoxy inlays
    Maple/Walnut/Maple/Walnut/Maple neck
Alder or Poplar body, offset shape - the top will be from some lovely bits of maple I recently acquired with lots of mineral stains and woodworm holes and a bit of flame. Possibly trans green.
Two Stingray style pickups (probably Nordstrand)
    5-way Superswitch
    Glockenclang 2-band preamp
    Hipshot Ultralite tuners
Probably a Hipshot A or D style bridge

    Clangy.

    I may well have a suitable switch - I'll have a rummage.

awesome, be sure and blog the rummage

    I'll be making:

an MIJ 68 RI Strat from a neck and body provided by Sorbz62. I intend to fit klusons, Jess Loureiro 69s, a Rothwell HLK, A decent trem, refin it in black nitro.

a MIC Squier Affinity fitted with gold hardware (from the Sorbz62 Strat), a neck humbucker and a weird yellow Kent Armstrong pickup that's done the rounds of this fair forum, controls will be master tone, master volume and a varitone.

I'm gonna be doing a la cab, in natural with some graphics i designed on the back. Any old tuners would be muchos appreciated, cheapo button ones? A tele bridge would also go a long way

    let the challenge commence!

I'll be doing the £100 challenge. Looking forward to it, as I haven't built anything in a while.

I don't have a tele yet, so my plan is to do something related to that. The problem is that I really want a Gretsch. So my rough outline so far is:

    Telecaster body shape
    Rosewood Neck
    Neck Humbucker
    Possible a tele bridge pickup
    Archtop Bridge
    Tailpiece
    Tele controls

Or I might just do a standard tele.

I have no components apart from a squier strat wiring loom and pickups that's done the rounds which can be considered up for swapsies or whatever. The most important thing is to get a body sorted. Does anyone know the prospects of gluing up a blank from bits of pine from wickes? Sizes etc., or any other suggestions along that front? Also, would the archtop bridge be too high on a flat-top tele body?

A couple of years of hanging in the long grass, enjoying the build threads hugely, have done for me.

I'm in for the unlimited category - i.e. may not get finished in 2013 .
But I have started, ordering one of Warmoth's chambered, sculpted, not for real-men, Tele bodies.

Other parts in mind for the 'caster include a "superwide" neck, and a CC neck pick up.
There I go telling you my age
