If anyone is looking for a redplate there is one secondhand at Charlie Chandler's Guitar experience - A blackverb 1x12 in red I think for about £1750.
Tried it and don't really understand all the excitement/hype myself but each to their own, horses for courses etc.
Thought I would flag it up as someone might appreciate a cheaper option.

On the back of possibly one of my busiest months ever (I barely played guitar for a month !), I can now update you guys on my Redplate journey...

History: Bear in mind, I was using an excellent Carr Rambler, but got very very tired of the constant pedal search for ODs. I had had some success with the Jester, Himmelstrutz and the Analogman NKT White Dot (using it clean). Great at home....

But, live and rehearsal, just sommat was missing. No real cut through the mix, in a couple of bands, in different situations. Then, there was the power issues; throw in a Timeline, Jester, Moog MF104 etc etc and you start to think of the price of a good amp on pedalboard alone...

I then purchased a Bogner Blue pedal. Nice, v good in some modes, but the usual HUGE learning curve, power issues, etc etc. Average in other modes... I’d had enough of hype, technical learning curves, cost, re-sale and the constant search...

REVELATION: Sell the pedals, maybe the amp, get the best CLEAN and OD tones out there in a combo. Here we go...

Along comes Redplate, and the Coda visit. Awesome service and help from Doug and the team. Went home with a Redplate Blackverb.

    __________________________________________________ _______

First thoughts ? Honest ? Man, it’s a touch heavy for me... And, I didn’t strike me as that intuitive at dialing in the tones. The Blackverb (BV) is known by Henry as the ‘swiss army knife’ for a reason; there is a huge range of tones available. Here is that steep learning curve again !

Compared to the Rambler, I thought the BV had inferior cleans (maybe) and reverb (definitely). Man, mistake ? Too much gas ? Am I too lazy to learn new gear ? Full of doubt...

Then I had a couple of hours with the BV, and realized that there was something special just waiting to be found here. First rehearsal last Monday bought about WOW WOW WOW !!! ODs very very good. Cut through the mix, work well with the cleans, boost and tweed simply using the Redplates own 3 way pedal.

Then, more bedroom stuff, and I got close to Rambler cleans, although the verb was still just ok.
Then, I had a re-surfacing of some back pain and sciatica. It suddenly to me that the bigger cab of the BV was there primarily to house the reverb. Lose the ‘verb, lose the weight, lose the pain. IN fairness, the bigger cabs did have a fuller, bassier sound (as you would expect) BUT...
I think my back will thanks me for it !

So back to Doug at Coda, and I’ve custom ordered a CD2 from Redplate in the Bone/Wheat/brown leather handle colours. The reverb issues will probably be dealt with a Strymon Flint, in the effects loop, I would imagine...

Any ‘Platers out there tried the CD2 and Flint ?

Only an 8 week wait now guys !!!

Thanks for your patience, and ask any questions if you want to start (or share) your journey....

    Hi Matt,
The BV isn't incredibly heavy but I think it comes in at about 48 pounds. The thing for me is thatbthese amps are very special indeed... You can get them to FEEL like a valve amp really driven hard, not just sound like it.

The Redplate CD2 size cab seems incredibly small in real life. Think they are a least 10 pounds lighter.

also, i wanted the looks of the custom colour !

So have you got the Carr back for now or are you amp-less for 8 weeks?

Sounds like a gas journey a lot of us on here can relate to. I may as well put a marker in my diary every 18 months to change from channel switcher to single channel with pedals, or vice versa!

No mate, the Rambler is at Coda or may even be with its new owner (if its sold !)

Somehow, i don't think that these Redplates will be easily matched, or swapped. I have certainly never heard ODs come from any combo i've ever heard, like they do from these Redplates.

Not just sound, but truly amazing feel.

I must say, the service from Henry at Redplate, and Doug at Coda are nothing short of exceptional...

Service to match the amps, you might say.

also, couldn't get any info on redplate weights (weight is huge factor for me), but saw this
    http://redamps.com/sizes-and-weights/
you one (blackverb) is quite hefty, but I'm encouraged by the tweedyverb
