The nearest I come to a modern Blues thing that I really, really like is Gov't Mule - although you have probably already checked them out and they probably don't come under the banner of the kind of thing you're after either!

There's also some really nice stuff on the main Gov't Mule man Warren Haynes' solo album from a couple of years back - Man In Motion. Some lovely guitar tones, but overall more of a Soul kind of a vibe - all horns and all that.

Personally, I'm just wishing John Mayer would do some more stuff as John Mayer Trio, but I doubt he will.

Has anyone mentioned Matt Schofield yet?
ooh, Matt has some UK dates coming up, playing at the Robin 2 on 6th March. I have one of his albums and, TBH, its a bit dull but he is clearly a great player and there are many platitudes about his tone in the guitar press so I would be interested in seeing him live. However, turning out as a billy no mates on a wednesday evening wouldn't be that much fun.
    Anyone else interested in going?
