    Default Lets see those fingers

So I've been playing a fair bit of acoustic recently, and I'd like to start picking with my fingers more. Thing is, I'm pants at it. I'm not expecting to be any kind of fingerstyle maestro any time soon but I'd like to be able to twinkle out a few chords from time to time.

Does anyone know of any good exercises to improve my finger-picking?

Just do loads of variations of patterns with open chords, starting with basic stuff like:

    pima
    pimami
    pimiaimi
    etc etc

Then clawhammer, barrel rolls and all that fun stuff; then look at Knopfler's lead style which is pretty difficult imo; finally proper solo guitar pieces (look for the Noad book if you have an interest in classical) and / or rasgueado if you like Spanish stuff

When I went to uni I left the leccy at home and only played acoustic for about 3 years so I got proper into it

Just play along to some easy finger picking songs and you'll pick it up as you go along.

I like this track for keeping my picking even (and the song is nice!). Chords and pattern are very simple, but keeping it even for the duration of the song is not if you're out of practice.

Justin Sandercoe has a few exercises in his website.
